State VS. Federal
Quick Facts:
These describe the rights the states had and the rights that the goverment had. The states wanted to have power, but the nation wouldnt let them have more than them.
Impact on Slavery:
The south had, and wanted slaves. Slaves helped the south compeat with the Norths economy. This all was fine until the Missouri compromise. This decalred that only slaves were aloud in the south and not allowed on any new land north of the slave line border. This was all cancled by the Kansas - Nebrska act. The Kansas - Nebrska Act gave the states the right to choose if they wanted slaves or not, instead of the Federal goverment choosing for them.

Important People:
The Dred Scott case. Dred Scott was an escaped slave. He tried to take the white man to court, and lost after the judge accused him of not being an person. This was a huge set back in the Ablitionist movement. This is an example of one man vs. the federal goverment.
